Is someone familiar with this local, or can tell me where I can obtain more informations about it?

I found an very old and wonderful book, "The United States locals and their history (1877)", scanned and free for download in PDF file on Archive. org ( http://www.archive.org/download/cu3...30134013.pdf ). It mentions this stamp, but with a very short description and without additional informations.

I think this is what you are referring to, and if so, it is considered a bogus (fantasy) issue:

For more information, the above image was taken from this web site:

http://www.rfrajola.com/mocks/mocks.htm

For those who can't read it, the bottom of the album page states:

Quote:
This post first appeared in the 1864 Moens catalog. The name apparently related to a bridge across the Susquehanna River connecting Columbia and Wrightsville, Pennsylvania. Although it is possible that such a post existed, there is no evidence that the post is anything other than pure fantasy.

Wt1,

congratulations and thank you so much! Your post is (as always) more very helpful for me.

Stamperdude,

I will make a high-quality scan later. I didn't want to do that before, because this is in album which is very fragile, but I am going to scan the entire album later, and I will add the scan on this thread later.

Since your question was answered by wt1, no need to disturb your album again for a scan at this time. Unless of course you want to. I thought the picture was with a camera and could be focused & a close up: a bit fuzzy. Interesting stamp.

I also wanted to make scans of some other pages from the album, so I took this opportunity to do that.

Here is higher resolution scan of the "C&W Bridge" stamp

If you would like also to see some other stamps from that album ("Lincoln"), I uploaded all them here:

If you are interested only in the US stamps from the album, there is only small amount of them, on just the couple of pages, I linked that few pages here:
