hi guys my name is gerry from ireland I posted this on the intro
thread only got one answer from bobgggg said it was an italian states fromm late 1800's, I thought it might be a something to do with the vatican with the cross keys has anyone got info on this one.

I think it is from the Roman states 1868 Scott 22. Value is listed as $14 - $1 depending on type.

thanks anthony, as i'm really new to this what do mean by type,and where do you guys get your info from I googled this for two days to no avail, mind you i'm quite new to computers too so that might explain it.

Hi Gerry,
I used a Scott catalogue which whilst not the best for this item is OK for a starting point.
With a little bit of knowledge you can focus your searches e.g try using the text on the stamp when searching 'Franco Bollo...'
Regarding the type there are three listed, glazed paper, unglazed and imperforate.
It is also useful when scanning to crop as close to the stamp as possible but any picture is better than none and helps a lot.

thank you again anthony very good information in future i'll scan them instead of photo. the stamp in question has a glazed paper. I have lots and I mean lots of stamps to research from britain, ireland, canada, usa, and european + rest of the world, hope you don't mind a lot more questions in the future. lol
