I'm surprised no one has yet commented on the recently issued sheetlet of 12 Forever Stamps commemorating the Pioneers of American Industrial Design:

I not only find the stamps attractive and informative (with text on reverse) but in the field of stamp collecting these stamps will cover a variety of topical specialties including "cameras", "clocks", "radios", "typewriters", "dinnerware", "pitchers", etc., and I would venture to guess that the camera depicted was probably made of that "Bakelite" product that was mentioned on this forum a couple of months ago.

I was also surprised to learn that the weird looking pencil sharpener (3rd stamp across top row) was designed by Raymond Loewy, who, as many of you will know, was responsible for the initial design of the infamous "double decker bus" used by Greyhound during the 1950's and 1960's.

Although these stamps are merely depicting inanimate objects, they all relate to designs that were common in my generation when growing up and provides some pleasant reminders of a by-gone era.

I'm with you on that wt1,
that is a lovely minisheet.

Illustrates examples of Kitchenware v tableware.

Each article is lovely in isolation,
but we do grow and change, I have been looking
at 20 year old magazines for ideas on installing
a pot belly stove, and I find the house interior designs
to be rather frightful.

Perhaps design has to go into hibernation for 100 years
before becoming fashinable again.
