...but this one is mine!

I won this on ebay in mid-June but it got held up in the Canada Post strike -- the seller switched the shipment mode to Fedex ground but there was an additional delay due to incomplete documentation. All told, the trip from Calgary, Alberta to Woodbridge, VA took 20 days but, from my perspective, it was worth the wait.

It certainly isn't the best copy around but I'm more than satisfied with it.

The PSE certificate that came with the stamp identifies it as "red brown" and reads "it is genuine used, with red grid cancels and a tiny light corner crease at the lower left."

Nice. One thing I like about red cancels is that the stamp design is usually quite visible which is not so with black cancels.

I failed to mention that the stamp arrived at the Fedex office about 10 miles from my house on Friday and sat on the truck over the 4th of July weekend -- so close and yet so far...

Funny to think how much that 5-cent stamp traveled around all these years before it got to you. Now that I think of it, how did I miss it? I like it a whole lot, nice late impression. Enjoy it !

Andy1847, I'm really glad that you missed it! I stumbled upon it during one of my ebay "drive-bys" and saw that the high bid was well below the norm with slightly more than an hour remaining. I assumed it would experience the normal last minute (and second) run up before the close but bid anyway (yes, I sniped) and was surprised to win it at a price well below my maximum.
