A PHILATELIC HOLIDAY,JUNE 2011
------------------------------------------------------

I could say it was like the usual old holiday, and I'd be partly correct. But this year the overdose of Philatelic Delights seemed to outweight all else and it didn't stop once I'd landed safely in Tel Aviv last Monday morning.
Two days ago I viewed my second collection for valuing in a fortnight, another dose of boggled-eyed old me rummaging through albums, packets, cupboards and boxes.....it was just like I imagined heaven to be.
But I could only cast my mind back to just three weeks earlier.....and the start of a Philatelic fortnight, seemingly without end........

THE BOURSES [FAIRS]

Five on this occasion, not including shop tours, time spent with Stamp buddies and a lovely morning in the Private home of an Approval Dealer.
Not so many pics this time but for what they are worth........

The Stafford show was the biggest, great atmosphere and lots of dealers. Most of the time was spent looking for covers for a friend...and I even got my accomplice for the day looking too. It was fun and wew were first in and last to leave. Met some great people including the organizer and found some nice bits for my Flag and Exhibition collections [shown elsewhere].
Lighting was a bit poor but will improve at the next show as refurbishments are taking place.

Looking for covers.
Me !

Accomplice in crime! [GB Expert]

Venue.

Not much on the Cinderella front at Stafford, but the other fairs at Chelmsford,Colchester,Addlestone and Charing Cross more than made up for it.

Here's a familiar pose [Remember London 2010?]

And inside the Charing Cross Fair.....another familiar scene. Albums on the floor !

The picture of the three musketeers has been shown elsewhere so I'll spare you a second look.
Later, StampStudy and I had our usual Pub Grub !

Me playing the village idiot with a chip [That must have been a pose just for you lot]

And so concludes the first part of the trip.
Next:

THE STAMP COLLECTION

and later:

THE MOST ORGANIZED STAMP ROOM YOU"LL EVER SEE !

Londonbus1....I saw one of those too !

PART TWO....THE STAMP COLLECTION
---------------------------------------------------------------------

I mentioned above about a collection I viewed here two days ago. Lots of material, much still unseen and some great items. I may have the opportunity to dispose of it and it will be fun. It was more easy to give a value to, than the one I saw in London.......

A friend dumped 5 boxes of Philatelic Material at my Mum's house and I had one week to go through it....it was an adventure, my first collection of size and quality, and I enjoyed every minute. StampStudy and I sat up until 3am going through it and getting excited...but we were still up at 7am to get to those fairs !

There was much more literature than stamps, a bit lop-sided I could say, but there was quality and surprises.
Pre-Stamp letters, QV stamps and covers,KGV Australia, The Uglies [Tony's kind!],GB and 'Classic' GB Cinderellas. Books and catalogues were interesting and in great condition. My reading material consisted of a 20-year run of the Cinderella Stamp Club Journal complete with Free Labels or sheets.....all pristine ! I have put in an offer

I hope to get together with this collection again in December.....I am still thinking about the stamps I got to see.

NEXT.....A STAMP STUDY FIT FOR A KING !

A PICTURE OF ORGANIZATION
-------------------------------------------------------------------

After a treacherous journey from Stafford in driving rain, I arrived at the home of our member StampStudy at around 10.00pm.
I'd seen stamps all day, indeed most of the week, but I was not prepared for what I was about to see in this humble abode in South-West London !

Last year during London 2010 Festival of Stamps, There was a stamp room, superb hospitality and one little dog who mauled me to bits [in the nicest possible way].

This year there was no stamp room [don't be sad, the best is yet to come !], even better hospitality [The Chinese was yummy] and TWO little dogs who mauled me to bits.
Perfect? Well.....yes.

But where were those stamps ?

Finally I went to visit StampStudy's Stamp study, which doubled up as just about everything else !
I am sure he won't mind me showing a few pics. My only fear is that I won't get an invite when next in London..........

The fold-up table that greeted me;

The Closet...er, I didn't see any clothes

Ah yes! There are some clothes in those bulging drawers over there...

Nope......

No Drew, no clothes in that one either !

In fact, I only saw stamps and covers and philatelic accessories. Was I dreaming...it had been a long day after all ?

In every corner, every bit of space.......

Stamps!

Even in the one place where I was assured there were no stamps, what did I find?

I had to bow down to a true believer, a wannabee Stamp Dealer in the making, Collector extraordinaire. It was any wonder there was room to sleep !
Was there room to sleep? I don't think I asked !

I just had to get one pic for the album.
So here is Londonbus in the greatest Stamp room of them all !

Drew, it was a pleasure.

Londonbus1....Until next time !

Great photos LB, I have to defend myself and say that it is not always that messy Usually the mess is stuffed in the draws and closets. We did make a deal that by next year (possibly even December) on your next arrival that everything will be sorted and I will know where everything is.

Good fun, good friends, and great stamping.

Drew

I've had enjoyed every single photo you've had posted!

Wish you could post more to end the "thirst" of other Philatelic "Cinderellas'" maniacs (like me!)

LB,

From such massive acquisitions I can tell that definitely there will be residues (left over/duplicates ...etc) relating to "Philatelic Cinderellas" that you would like to dispose of/trade ...

Please, please, please don't forget that there's someone here who's dying to acquire NEW Philatelic Cinderella stuff >>>> it's me, james!

Cheers

I wish I could have a holiday like that! I'm off to Seattle to my wife and stepdaughters. I hope that there are some stampshops etc. there. Here in the Arabian Gulf, I feel like I'm in a philatelic desert! Thank goodness for the internet!
