I feel your pain philb. I walked out of Covermania earlier this year with 9 banker boxes of covers. If you rearrange the boxes just right, it looks like furniture. |

Also Guilty-- I know which ones I want but I would rather buy a mixed lot containg it than the one individual. Plus it always seems that those solo stamps cost so much more than when grouped in a smorgasbord. Besides when our heirs get to go through all this mess they can figure out why so many of this and that and call us all friggin nuts. |

philb, I'm in the same boat. I do buy individual stamps from time to time, but I don't get much of a thrill when they arrive - even when I've obtained a high CV stamp at a bargain price. After all, I know what I'm getting. When I buy a large lot, I experience the heady thrill of the possibility that virtually anything could be in that lot.
That said, I have bought too many disastrous lots to go on doing this. I generally try hard to find something worthwhile in every lot I buy, something I can sell to recoup the cost of the lot. I have often been able to do this but sometimes it can be a very serious challenge.
I'm starting to think that it's best to buy only from sellers from whom I've bought before and been satisfied. Although the content of the lot is therefore more predictable, it greatly reduces the risks of receiving total rubbish.
For the uninitiated, what is 'Covermania'? |

Ok..fair question...Covermania is a show in Albany, New York thats held once a year in February....cover dealers only...a couple of large rooms of them...lately I noticed its mostly larger dealers..i used to enjoy the smaller dealers but perhaps its become too costly for them or the table space is purchased by the larger dealers !! |

Quote: Help me I am a bulk buying junkee ! Focus on the follwing iimage for 3 minutes, stare at the centre of the picture. Your eyelids are becoming heavy, breathe deeply your eyes are heavy you want to sleep, close your eyes, all you see are stamps, they make you feel ill, you can taste the gum and it's horrible, you can feel the irritating perforations and the gaudy pictures, you feel if you see another one you will begin to vomit. Your eyes are lighter now, you awake when I snap my fingers "Snap!" Send $50 to The Great Rudolpho PO Box 1234 Manor Heights 6315 western Austrlia |

So funny this thread, it's early morning and i'm laughing my head out. I'm more of a target style collector. When it's possible I like to buy a collection to start a topic or a country. I like mnh stamps and they don't come in kiloware. Although the study of cancel is interesting I prefer a stamp without it to see all the details on the stamps. But I never say never about kiloware. Could decide to collect one country completely used one day or have both the mnh and the used collection. |

I have been struggling with the stamp lust myself. It is as if I could never have enough stamps. |
