That is the American way these days. We spend money to make ourselves feel happy. I am as guilty of this as anyone.

Hi, my name is Kev and I am an addict

Having just got back into this hobby a month or so ago, I've been buying up bulk lots left right and centre. Thinking being that as I'm pretty much starting over from scratch, and am planning a world collection I may as well buy up a boatload of mixes to start off.

I probably bought up enough stamps to keep me busy for over a year, then a friend of mine in Holland sent over a 2kilo box crammed with dutch stamps (he said he has 2 more, but I told him to hold onto those for a while hehe)

In spite of all this, I still check online stamp auctions for some 'bargain' lots on an almost daily basis...I'm starting to see stamps in my sleep

Welcome, Kev. You're in good company here. The first step to getting better is admitting you have a problem.

Two kilos of Dutch stamps means you'll probably have some duplicates, ya think?

I knew I had enough stamps when I calculated how long it would take me to go through one pound of stamps, then added up what I had sitting around that I had to sort, and realized I'd better live til I was at least 93. (I'm 57 now.)

I think that is a distinct possibility

I too have " the itch " (I can't bring myself to say I have a problem just yet). Watching for bargains on ebay is a pasttime to the point I need to stop and catalog what I have accumulated. When I come across a nice find, well, that's priceless! and feeds "the itch" even more!

It's kind of like feeding the carp at the Linesville, PA spillway (Google image search it - so thick the ducks walk on their backs.)

Fun, gratifying, but in the end, afterall, they are still carp.
