I am trying to classify a stamp that appears by design and perf. to be a 635. However, the color is very sim. to one of the Special Delivery stamps I posted here the other day (the red lilac) - on my SG color chart (which does not have red lilac) it looks most similar to reddish violet or bright reddish violet, but certainly not plain ol' violet or bright violet.

Is this an age/toning matter? It has a strong vibrant color, doesn't look faded.
Or am I missing something else -- perhaps there was another issue of the 3c that has this redder color, also with 11x10.5?
Or is my mini Scotts missing a variant? [still waiting for the real thing to arrive]
Or is there this much acceptable variation in color for 635?

Thanks.

Violet, deep violet, dark violet, red violet, bright violet, dull violet, brown violet, add to the mix a bunch of other factors that can have an affect on color, and you could have a two dozen versions that are all the same.
