After 40+ years of collecting US used, I have rediscovered the joy of collecting stamps. Being that I am at the point that the U.S. stamps I do not have are priced each in the $100 plus range, just aint no fun. So thanks to jammesw and nitrolures, I have got back to basics with Canada and Newfoundland putting stamps into my Scott albums, that are not equal to a car payment. Yes I know that I will run out of affordable Canada and NFLD but at least for the next few years I can collect on a budget.

Hi Fred,

For me it's exactly the other way around, the Canadian stamps I don't have are pretty much out of my budget (until my wife wins the lottery), so I am working on the American stamps that are in budget. The fine folks in this forum have had some excellent auctions that have filled in a number of holes at prices that I can actually afford.

I have to say, now that I've been here a while, it's like buying from Friends at a local stamp club.

I'm glad to hear that others are finding great enjoyment in collecting Canada and US moderately priced stamps. Now that I am retired, I have been focusing on reasonably priced mint and used stamps from these two countries and a few others. I have also realized that collecting interesting cancellations is another inexpensive way of enjoying my hobby.
