Hi all,
I was going thru some old stuff a few days ago and came across an album that I have not touched in 16 -18 years. When I glanced thru it, several questions came immediately to mind and I thought in this day and time, why not check on the net for answers. For one, is warm water the best way to soak self stick stamps? Next, when I started this album, way back when, I used Scott mounts bought in bulk and cut to fit. This does not seem like a good way to do self stick. Am I incorrect or is there a better way?
Thank you very much for any help you can offer and I am sure I will be back to this site often.

to the family cwp. You've asked a tough question that has a complicated answer and has been talked about a lot in the philatelic press and elsewhere. Here is a link to another post that might give you some insight.

The most recent U. S. self-sticking stamps don't have a water soluble paper backing so you can't readily soak them free of the paper. Earlier issues do have the layer and can be soaked off. I use lukewarm water myself.

CWP... welcome to the forum... Just my suggestion, If you
started with mounts, keep going with them.

In my case, I started with hinging stamps, so I continue using them
