My personal preference is something 60-lb weight or higher. When you wet the mount (even if lightly) my concern is that the moisture would affect a lighter weight bond paper.

Here's an interesting one I picked up today:



Found it at the bottom of a stack of Showgard mounts. Those who know sizes, will quickly say that the 40x27 mm is pre-cut for UN commemoratives, but they are also recommended for modern US self adhesive commemoratives.

Also, note the "Produced by Prinz, W.-Germany" reference and the fact that it's a package of 45 strips. Most of the time when you buy them today the package is only available in a reduced size of 40 strips.

I have an old 1980's Scott catalog where their mounts are advertised as 45 strips; so I assume this package must date back to that era. Still good for most general mounting purposes and since I found them loclaly, I didn't have to pay any shipping charges.
