I stopped collecting stamps back around 1960 for some reason that I'll never remember. When I was home earlier this year my mom gave me my old stamp collection which was in a Harris Discoverer Album along with a lot of old stamps I had and some of my dads FDCs. I bought the American Heirloom Collection albums and have pretty much gotten my US stamps back where they belong, now I need to work on my foreign stamps. As you can imagine the book they're in is at least 50yrs old so most of the stamps in it are pretty old. And finally a bit about me, I'm 62yrs old, served 22yrs on the Army and am still serving by working for a government contractor at Ft. Hood on the firing ranges. I also collect books which I have over 3000 paperbacks all over the house, mostly Science Fiction (which my wife 'really' wants me to get rid of. I've been married for 40yrs now and have two great sons and one grandson and one granddaughter.

Sounds like Chris is a good shot if they still let him "play" on the firing range! :-) |

Thanks for the replies, no, I don't get to play anymore, just get to fix whatever gets broke or shot which at times is a real challenge. Never did get to shoot the 'big' guns when I was in, I was an MI guy or earlier in my career ASA or Radio Research in Vietnam. But since getting back to stamps I've quit buying so many books, except for the used 2010 Scott set I bought for a good price and I'm not on the computer as much as I used to be.

Thanks, I don't do any hunting/fishing though our youngest son and granddaughter are into it big time. She's just turned 10 and got a nice 8 point buck and a wild hog last year. I just never could see chasing around a little white ball, guess I'm just not into sports. I'd rather sit and work on stamps or read a good book.

Greetings to you and welcome! I also recently started collecting again. With the fast pace in the world today, I had forgotten how much working (playing) with stamps can be spell-binding. |

And, it's addictive - had to put all my stamps away while my 2yr old grandson was here over the weekend, and while they were out visiting the other grandparents I found that I was very bored.
