Hi Everyone, I got some money and I want to buy some stamps. I am faily new, know a bit about stamps.. so I guess I am looking for something like a pound or so? Nothing specific, but not USA, world wide would be great. I have only ever bought stamps from ebay, Is that the place to buy or are there other websites especially for stamps that offer larger misc. lots? Thank you! SueStamps

Hi Sue,
Do you mean stamps on paper or already soaked off paper? Used, or CTO (cancelled to order) or mint (with gum still on)?
You could look on Google for kiloware which is stamps measured in pounds or kilos (metric) or ounces or grams.
Do you want small stamps or only large pictorial stamps? Certain countries? Time frame?

Doug Hi Puzzler, Thanks for asking, that makes a big difference what I am looking to buy. Though I know I could be missing out, I really dislike soaking stamps. So stamps off paper is a must for me. Used is what I prefer because of the lower cost. Though I have several now, I love MINT stamps but I would think a pound lot would be expensive? I love the old 1930's and so types of stamps. Large or small are fine, but I tend to like the larger stamps. Pictorials are great, and I a am a big fan of the CTOs just to add to my themed albums. World wide and not USA, no country specific. Thanks so much for the questions, it does narrow my wants, but... I am not too picky. I would just love a nice big lot to go through. I love to sort and look up stamps. thank you, SueStamps |

SueStamps, I can do you a nice lot for a very reasonable price. Not too much duplication or damaged and postage at cost !! Let me know if you are interested. Better from a devil you know than from a devil you don't ! Londonbus1 |

Sue I believe LB's offer is likely one of the best bets you'll get from any source. I have a shoebox full of mixed World sorted by country but there is probably closer to 3-5lbs and I'd have to get $150 for the lot but there is alot of mint and MNH mixed with alot of used. Personally I'd give LB's mix a shot and I'll slowly but surely be listing country lots for auction on here if you see some interest. |

Londonbus1 Hi Londonbus, Thank you for your reply. My question is, how does one get to communicate with each other outside of this forum? I mean... I could leave you my email address here, but then everyone will see it. I have not tried to email anyone from this website yet, does it work? I do know that I need to have at least 50 messages before they allow it, I will have to see if I am close to that. Also, how does one know who they can trust? I have traded with many people and am in 100% good standings on a couple of auction sites. Anyway, I am very interested so if we can email each other away from this site, I would be very happy to hear what you have available and the cost. Thank you very much, SueStamps |

Can you send the website for me so I can check it out? I can't wait and am excited to get my hands on some more stamps to search, sort, etc. I really appreciate it! Thank you, have a good evening! SueStamps, I have no website, just lots of nice stamps to offload at a decent price with no inflated postage charges. I will email you shortly, and then send details later after work. Then you can decide yay or nay. To email a member, just click on the members name which will take you to his/her profile. Then click on 'send an email'. Londonbus1. PS. There is no website, Londonbus trades and sells, like many of us do, through this forum. I believe the rule is 50 posts and 14 days of membership. Well, you have 50+ posts, and you are almost at 14 days membership. Then you can use the forum email to contact other mambers, and can buy/sell and trade. The 50 posts/14 day rule is to ensure a new member is a genuine member and for other members to get to know them a bit through their posts so they feel comfortable trading with them. When you have a sorted your new stamps and found some duplicates/spares, you can always trade on the forum. A packet trade of say, 100 worldwide for 100 worldwide, is an easy way to keep your collection going and get rid of spares. There is a few of us on the forum who like to trade this way, so I'm sure you'll find some trading partners. (I am also happy to recommend Londonbus, by the way! ) |

Hi Sue! I will agree with all of the above! I've purchased stamps from LB1 once before and was not for even a second disappointed. Great deal all around. I've traded stamps many times, and sold stamps a few times, and have bought stamps, all here on SCF. In my opinion this is a very trustworthy group of sincere people, all in it for some good stamp collecting fun (and not to mention never hesitant to help out a fellow SCF'er with great deals) Good luck on your quest for a boatload of stamps Sue! ~Ash |

with everybody as well that LB1 is one of the best ( although I haven't dealt with him at least so far!) but I can tell for sure from his numerous very helpful & useful posts! Needless to mention the numerous +ve feedback received from other members in several threads as well. Ah, forgot to mention the fabulous, neat & very interesting stamp collections he posted in several threads (especially, "Philatelic" Cinderellas! ) Cheers |

SueStamps, Since you are new to & enthusiastic admirer of such marvelous & enjoyable hobby. As a small token of encouragement, I can send you a collection of "used" Worldwide postage stamps ( with some duplicates) as a gift from me! Yet, my collection is NO match to LB1's one ( I've seen some of his collection & I can assure you). Please e-mail me ( as LB1 explained to you earlier) to take your address & have the collection shipped.
P.S. Please guys, do NOT broadcast this to other new collectors .... And please "Moderators", delete this post after SueStamps reads it! *JK*Cheers |
