Hi ncbuckeye,

Thanks for posting these nice clean scans! I'll try and identify them all for you although I'm not sure about the lilac and rose coloured papers.

The prices for the Turkisj revenue stamps are in US dollars from William McDonald's catalogue of 1998 but note that these are for stamps without faults.

#1. Newspapers and Advertisements revenue, 2 paras blue (or other shade), McDonald #4 (watermarked) or #5 (unwatermarked) from 1891, priced 50c.

#2. Same as stamp #1.

#3. Same as stamp #1.

#4. Newspapers and Advertisements revenue, 2 paras light blue & light red (or other shade), McDonald #2 (watermarked) or #3 (unwatermarked) from 1884, priced 50c.

#5. Municipal Tax stamp for Constantinople Market Fees, inscribed in Turkish, Armenian, French and Greek, 20 paras black on lilac, McDonald #50 from 1863, priced $7.50. I'm guessing this is a faded lilac colour rather than grey which isn't listed.

#6. Municipal Tax stamp for Constantinople Market Fees, inscribed in Turkish, Armenian, French and Greek, 120(?) paras black on blue, McDonald #76 from 1863, priced $10.00. This actually looks more like 100 paras but there isn't one listed and the second character in the face value is a bit smudged.

#7. Municipal Tax stamp for Constantinople Market Fees, inscribed in Turkish, Armenian, French and Greek, 40(??) paras black on blue, McDonald #55 from 1863, priced $7.50. The face value appears to be a Persian style "4" so I'm guessing this may be 40 paras (but it's definitely not the same as stamp #9 below which uses the usual Arabic form of "40").

#8. Municipal Tax stamp for Constantinople Market Fees, inscribed in Turkish, Armenian, French and Greek, 80 paras black on yellow, McDonald #67 from 1863, priced $10.00.

#9. Municipal Tax stamp for Constantinople Market Fees, inscribed in Turkish, Armenian, French and Greek, 40 paras black on brown, McDonald #58 from 1863, priced $7.50.

#10. Municipal Tax stamp for Constantinople Market Fees, inscribed in Turkish, Armenian, French and Greek, 60 paras black on yellow, McDonald #60 from 1863, priced $10.00.

#11. Austro-Hungarian Post Office in Turkey, Registration label from Constantinople Post Office #3.

#12. German Post Office in Turkey, Registration label from Constantinople Post Office #1.

#13. Austro-Hungarian Post Office in Turkey, Registration label from Beirut Post Office #3.

#14. Municipal Tax stamp for Constantinople Market Fees, inscribed in Turkish, Armenian, French and Greek, 10 paras black on white, McDonald #98A from 1868, priced $7.50.

#15. Municipal Tax stamp for Constantinople Market Fees, inscribed in Turkish, Armenian, French and Greek, 10 paras black on blue, McDonald #97A from 1868, priced $7.50.

#16. Municipal Tax stamp for Constantinople Market Fees, inscribed in Turkish, Armenian, French and Greek, 10 paras black on rose, McDonald #94A from 1868, priced $7.50.

#17. Municipal Tax stamp for Constantinople Market Fees, inscribed in Turkish, Armenian, French and Greek, 10 paras black on yellow, McDonald #95A from 1868, priced $7.50.

#18. Same as stamp #17.

#19. Municipal Tax stamp for Constantinople Market Fees, inscribed in Turkish, Armenian, French and Greek, 10 paras black on green, McDonald #96A from 1868, priced $7.50.

#20. Same as stamp #15.

#21. Same as stamp #19 (although they're different shades).

#22. Same as stamp #17.

#23. Municipal Tax stamp for Constantinople Market Fees, inscribed in Turkish, Armenian, French and Greek, 10 paras black on brown, McDonald #100A from 1868, priced $7.50.

#24. Municipal Tax stamp for Constantinople Market Fees, inscribed in Turkish, Armenian, French and Greek, 10 paras black on lilac, McDonald #99A from 1868, priced $7.50.

#25. Municipal Tax stamp for Constantinople Weighing Fees, inscribed in Turkish, Armenian and French, 20 paras black on white, McDonald #33A from 1868, priced $7.50.

#30. Municipal Tax stamp for Constantinople Weighing Fees, inscribed in Turkish, Armenian and French, 20 paras black on brown, McDonald #28A from 1868, priced $7.50.

#31. Municipal Tax stamp for Constantinople Weighing Fees, inscribed in Turkish, Armenian and French, 20 paras black on rose(?), McDonald #22A from 1868, priced $7.50.

#32. Municipal Tax stamp for Constantinople Weighing Fees, inscribed in Turkish, Armenian and French, 20 paras black on yellow, McDonald #23A from 1868, priced $7.50.

NCBUCKEYE - On your original post you will see an icon beside the date posted along with others that will allow you to edit topic. Simply scroll over each little image and it will have options of show profile, email poster and so on. Great topic very seldomly seen so as Rod said it will be great future reference for others.
