Every time I leaf through an old album or rummage through a box of philatelic material, I try to keep an eye out for things of interest that may have absolutely and utterly nothing to do with stamps or stamp collecting.
Often, with a little imagination, they can form the centre piece of a specialized display or small thematic collection. In themselves, they are nothing but they can spark all sorts of ideas.
Recently, I found just such an item tucked in the back of a stamp album I purchased. It is from a small town south of Winnipeg, MB, and all by itself it raises many possibilities.
