I just got this stamp and I believe it has a natural paper crease. Though I did not think so when I bid on it, I bid on it becuase of the nice centering. Can anyone confirm that this is a natural crease?
I'm not sure that you would be able to tell at this point. I can't say that I've ever seen a crease with a bend either. Nonetheless it's still an attractive piece with exceptional centering and nice color.
I would say that there was a crease in the paper before printing, the stamp was printed, purchased, applied to an envelope and then soaked off leaving this valley where no ink appears in some portion.
Man that is the wildest point down grill I have ever seen???????????? Looks to be a preprint fold that was straightened out prior to print. I think that look at the back of the stamp would be a tell all. Ron
How coincidental! I was watching this exact stamp and forgot to bid on it. I sure glad I didn't now that I see I would have been bidding against a fellow SCFer. I don't need another one but I was intrigued by the possibility of it having a preprint fold or crease.
Stampvirgin, the one thing I've noticed pre-printing paper creases is they will always hold their crease after being wet and weighted while drying. I kept every one I've come across especially in Australian KGV.
Your gorge appears to be a genuine pre-print crease, the back of the stamp should show the corresponding 'round hill'.
