I'm sure someone will come along and nail it down for ya but I think it is most likely a provisional. Looks like an American Indian on the obverse. I'd be curious to know too. Cool stamp! |

Bump.
This stamp is elusive to me, too. I can't seem to find any Scott listing in Local Posts, Provisionals, etc. Anyone have information on it? |

Quote: Anyone have information on it? I do, I do (raising hand) This is a Fantasy Local Post of an unknown origin. The complete set consists of 20 stamps. They are Lithographed and came in panes of 40. Each pane contains one row of eight stamps of each of the five denominations. Perforation should be 12.5 X 12.5 Each value comes in four colors(blue, green, rose & orange). Values are 1, 2, 5, 10 & 20 cents. Value is around $2-$5 in VF condition. |

You are a true asset to this forum. Why, Thank You kind Sir! I was always told that my wealth of useless knowledge would come in handy. I'm just glad I have lived to see it (not that I'm planing on kicking the bucket any time soon). |

Great info. indeed. As a "fantasy local post issue" what resource do you use to be able to get information about it, most notably a "catalog" value? In other words, what publication lists this issue? |

Quote: revstampman is awesome indeed! AWWW Shucks! These are listed in the Springer Catalog Volume 9. Their is NO current catalog value. But, you do see them for sale every now and then. I do keep records of many of the Springer listed types. So, I base the value on that. |

Hi, and thank you again for your insightful information. Revstampman mentioned "fantasy stamp" does this mean it is a fake? This stamp looks very old, and it looks like it has been cancelled too. Was it used on a letter, and if so, when? I do not have a springer catalog, so I am left to wonder about the value of this stamp. Is it rare, or is it memorex? |
