1c Franklin Precancel Pre-1940---Thoughts?

Hello. this is my first post here in the forum. I have been collecting since 1974, but need to learn a lot more and work more steadily on it.

This stamp came from an album, applied with rubber cement (yuck) and designated as 1923. I have only seen one other like this with the Jamaica, N.Y. precancel, and it too had poor perforation and was all jagged like this one at the top left.

Does this poor, jagged, crooked perforation mean anything. It is identical to the other cancelled in Jamaica, N.Y.

I do not see any gum marks as I think the yellow on the back left is from the rubber cement he used.

I know the coloring can look different from screen to screen, so based on what you see, do you think this is scott #632? Were any #596 cancelled anywhere but Kansas City, MO? Any other ideas?

The rough perforations are not unusual on US stamps of that era. They are actually poorly separated chads at the upper left. You can bend them back to loosen them, then remove them carefully with stamp tongs.
I do this if they appear unsightly.
It looks like the scotts 632 to me and the Jamaica precancel is a common one.
The yellowish gunk could be residue from previous stamp hinges. It will probably come off in a cold water bath and pressing. The stamp and precancel are very common so it would be a good one to practice on.
Scott 596 precancels only come from Kansas City.

That Jamaica, NY precancel is Type 219. Very common.
