Here are three news ones I just picked up and waiting to be delivered. Sorry the scans are not the best, but these are the original scans from the sale. Stampvirgin, you were asking about a #10 here is one that you might like. I will post better scans once it is in hand.

1857-60 (1875 Reprint), 1¢ Bright Blue, #40.
NGAI, very tiny filled thin, Extremely Fine appearance.
Scott $575. , 3846 issued .



1851, 3¢ Orange Brown, Type II, #10A.
Cds cancel, Pos. 100R2E ("top label and left diamond block joined"), nice margins to close bottom right, ironed out vert.

As always sweeeeet eye candy. May I graciously piggyback this A10? for better ID. Not sure of frame lines other than type1 having all 4 sides. Wish full cover was intact but on pc ya gotta love the full cancel.

Nitro, type I and II have 4 sides, or framelines complete around the entire stamp. The type II has inner framelines recut, yours is a type II, scott #11A. The stamp is from Plate 2L or Plate 3 and is an 1852 Brownish Carmine color. Most of the time when I see that particular NYC CDS it is on a #10 or #10A but not this time. I tried to add the image to my NYC cancel archive but when I opened it on my computer is was compressed vertically, any ideas why?

Thank you for the info and not sure why their would be vertical compression on the image. Scan was done 600x600 through photoshop with no alterations other than cropping. Possibly photobucket resizing? If you like send me an email and I will send the image direct to you.

seal you really think that 12 is VF? according to scott that should be F-VF, only because it is cut so close on the left.
Is that top one really a 10a?

Like I said I do not have these stamps in hand and have only copied the listing information.
Yes, I believe the top one is a 10A top label and left diamond block joined making it a position 100R2E. The only question in my mind is the color and I will only be able to give an ID it once I have in hand.
About the #12, I agree with you that maybe it should be have been called fine or maybe fine +. But again this is the actual listing and as we both know, even your up-scale auction houses (which this one came from) have a tendency to over call centering. All that being said, and I hope you will agree, compared to most, it is still an excellent example for this issue.

ANY imperf that has a clear border should really be considered F-VF (75-85). Because they are so notoriously cut off center. So yeah, I agree, for a 12 , it is in damn fine condition.
and we all know that ALL auction houses overstate the quality...

When you buy from them it's very fine, when you sell to them, it's average or fine.

Great scans and stamps, wish I had something comparable. Great stuff to look at, but then I muddle in depression for the rest of the day. Seal if you want to cheer me up, you could send them to me look at. I promise to send them back, sometime, eventually, soon,,,,, :) Jeff
