The covers depicted below were found in my grandfather's stamp collection and were lost for a few years and not really given the attention they deserved. While nothing really unique or special, as I become more and more interested in postal history it is items like these that I have found to be more and more enjoyable to collect.

Here's a pretty interesting article about the history of the railway mail service: http://www.postalmuseum.si.edu/RMS/...lbyrail.html

Cheers!

Interesting, beezer. I wonder what caused the first to be cancelled twice -- machine glitch or run through twice?

The car looks to be in great condition when the photo was taken. I hope it is preserved in a rail museum somewhere.

It appears the car is located in the Patee House Museum, though I have yet to find any photos...
