There's been interest here about my stamp album pages at http://mcgees.org/stampalbums. Users' difficulty with the .tar files led me to repackage ... then to consider putting them in another format ... then settling on PDF ... then realizing a problem.

To wit, my new printer doesn't handle the margins as well as my old printer, and ends up cropping the pages. Not good.

Here is a sample of what I mean by insufficient margins: http://mcgees.org/stamps/sheets000.pdf [13M] -- presumably, some of you will be able to print them properly, and some will not. Try sheet 3 for perhaps the most taxing.

So, I'm hoping for some feedback. After Amos Hobby Publications had me take the Scott numbers off the pages, I left the # signs in place. Is that a good choice? I'm thinking of re-doing the pages for 5-strip pages. Is that also a good choice? Basically, any feedback on layout for the stamp images on the pages is most welcome.

Thanks.

Here's what I do. Obviously Amos wouldn't let me publish this (I'm guessing). But, I show you so you can see what the strips look like on the page. I like them because I can reconfigure as I get more in various series. But, there is no way the pictures can display under the strips. I can only get 7 strips on a page and still have room for numbers under them. I hand-write the numbers in light pencil, again so I can easily reconfigure.

McGee:

I'm probably restating the obvious, but I have found it best to assume that most laser printers will not support a margin of less than 0.25 inches.

I have a Dell printer that will go down to 0.16, but for compatibility, stick to 0.25.

Also, when you print from Adobe, bet sure to turn off all 3 page-scaling options:

OK, I've got a new PDF version up. I'm asking for feedback.

I know that some stamps are the wrong sizes. There's very little I can do about this other than going through, hand-correcting each one -- it's a problem of the source data.

As a reminder, these pages are designed to be cut into strips and each strip placed behind the row of a 5-row stocksheet.

Here's the link: http://mcgees.org/stamps/USAlbumMcGee000.pdf [9MB]

Thanks!

Edit -- Here's the first page:
