Was the first day ceremony in Boston?

It sure was ... right in the Charlestown Navy Yard, right next to "Old Ironsides". Here's the news release:

It is a very nice issue - I just picked up a sheet a few minutes ago for sending mail to my stamp buddies.

This has to be the most beautiful issue of the year, but why do they mess it up with a digital first day cancel?

For those so inclined to want such things, the USPS has just posted a new product: Framed Artwork of the Stamp in a wall hanging for $39.95:

Even though I live reasonably close to Boston, I wasn't intending to go to the FDOI ceremony for the stamp, but I did buy the stamps at my local post office on the first day of issue and mailed a couple back to myself at a mailbox that I knew would carry a Boston, MA cancellation.

I don't know why I even try ... when this is the end result ... both the date and city name are only barely legible (and some may argue they aren't legible at all)!

For anyone unfamiliar with the spray-on postmark, it goes back to the Innovative Choreographers stamps and is supposed to read "Just Dance", but you'd hardly know that from first glance.

I think that it is one of the best stamps of the year.
I hope in Spain they will make issues with the same quality.

I got a similar smudge in the mail the other day. You had to mention dancing before I could see dancers in the smudge. Pathetic...

The USPS website has "quietly" removed the USS Constitution/War of 1812 stamp from their list of available commemorative stamps, as the stock has reportedly run low. (You can still order the die cut and no die cut press sheets, though).
