I have some Wailuku, Kailua and other smaller-town Hawaiian with TnT precancels on them. So I went to Brunell just for fun to look up the range of types available in these towns ... and he only lists two types of HI TnT -- both from Honolulu.

Just glancing at a bunch of other states, the listing seems so much more complete -- did he omit most of HI deliberately, are most of HI not "real" precancels, or what am I missing here?

I know more recent decades have spawned a bunch of pretty much made-for-collecting TnT types, often made by collectors or dealers themselves, but the types I am looking at are 1278, 1283B, and Prexies. Those seem too old not to be genuine post-office-made?

As usual, I am confused and frustrated!
Thanks.

Hang in there Jan! The Brunell catalog lists PRINTED precancels. To a lay person, this might suggest all precancels but that is not the case. Printed precancels are those with PSS numbers in the 200-series and certain local types. Most of Hawaii is handstamped, not printed. I don't think there is an up-to-date Hawaii general catalog availble these days. I can help you with identifications and valuations if you like.

Chasa you are a lifesaver - wow, this whole US stamp thing is gonna drive me mad.

The HI ones I have right now are, I am sure, worth 10c or less each. It really was just curiosity about how many more are out there that sent me looking. BUT if I find something I think is going to make my retirement, I will immediately start bugging you.

[And I also really appreciate your help elsewhere on my colors and my wretched 2c Washingtons.]
