Missing Punctuation On Bureau Type 63 - Is It Common?

For example (on the ubiquitous stamp it's all CAPS):

Regular:

San
Francisco
Calif.

vs.

Anomalous:
San
Francisco
Calif

I have a 641-63 (9c salmon) with a very strong precancel but no period -- I'm all but certain that it's not just faded away, because the rest of the printing is so sharp and very dark.

But perhaps this is quite common? Thanks.

Can you scan it for us to see?

I think I've read that "period" and "no period" varieties exist on a number of precancels, just not sure if the Type 63 is one of them. There is usually a footnote in the catalog that refers to this.

Yes, the CALIF with no period is well known from SF, and has a footnote-5.
My recollection is there is one no-period position on the sheet of 100.
There is no published 'value', but they are not common.
