Keep it up and in ten or fifteen years you'll have so many albums your spouse will start threatening you if you don't get them under control.

Jser - there are many collectors who think that the BOB material is much more interesting than the regular issues. Although I don't specifically collect BOB, I'm one of them.

t360 is also. He has shown us quite a few beautiful revenues over the last several months.

Jser,
I have some US stamps if you are interested. Just email me your address. I am more than happy to help out a new collector. What are your interests stamp wise and otherwise? Maybe I have something that could help you start a topical collection. There are blank pages to be filled...

I got the stamps today, the fish were cool and I ended up being able to soak all of the stamps that were on paper off, although I didn't know if I should because of the adhesive. Oops, those didn't have special cancels did they?

My brother, although he doesn't collect stamps, enjoyed the ones with fishing flies on them because he ties flies.

Thank you so much!

You are welcome. I am glad you liked the fish & flies stamps, I purposely put those in the packet. Soaking the stamps is not a problem. In fact I would not be surprised if some of them fell off the paper. Glad to know you have the basics down. Maybe your brother will decide to start collecting stamps. A world wide collection based around fishing, fish, boats, flies sounds like something right up your alley. I don't think any of them had a special cancelation, except maybe a slogan cancel, but soaking should not have removed the postmark. It is your collection have fun and do what you want to do, never let someone tell you the way you collect is not the right way. I would like to see as I am sure others more of your collection.

Good luck hunting down that Pumpkinseed fish.

Jser,
Was the envelope hand canceled with a circular date stamp or a spray on cancel? Did you have any of the stamps I sent or that were on the envelope as postage? I tried to make sure I didn't give you any duplicates. Were there any that you want more info on?

I got very few duplicates, I went through them and looked for all the obvious dupes and found only about 15 or so! I think I am going to finish up all the stamps that I have and then go through the ones you sent and organize those into decades and then start putting those in the albums.

The envelope you sent did have a hand cancel and it did not cover any of the stamps, I might soak those off the envelope and save the envelope as a whole(since it has the hand cancel and it says route 66 on it.

Sorry that the stamps were not canceled, I went to a postal sub station across from work and asked them to hand cancel it. I guess next time I should go to the main post office. Are you interested in route 66? I used a rubber stamp I have with the route 66 shield for my outgoing mail. Did you like the BOB stamps I sent?

Actually, isn't it better for the stamps to be uncancelled?
Oh, those are just a hand stamping on the envelope?
Maybe I will just soak those off.

Thanks again for all the stamps!

Jser,
It all depends on your preference. Some collectors like light canceling on used, some like a cover with a clear postmark tieing the stamps to the envelope, some want to know the stamps history and so on.
