Is there a known variety of the Minneapolis, MN precancel with just a single bar? Here's an example. I happen to have two other stamps (both postage due) with the same single bar, so I tend to doubt it is just a printing anomaly.

NOTE: For the record, the letter height is 2.5mm (not 3.0mm which is very similar but apparently yet another precancel type with double bars.)

Any comments will be appreciated. Thanks.

Yes, it's a local type. Don't have my catalog with me.

Not being critical, but do you have the Town & Type catalog? If not I would highly recommend getting either the printed version or even better, the computer program version. With the computer version you can type the city and see pictures of just the types for that town. You can also narrow it to show just the locals of that town. Makes it very easy to ID all but the most difficult types (ie Chicago and Philly locals).

Thanks for the help.

Since you're so good at identifying L-Types, can you ID the precancel type used on this one?

Measurements: 12mm between bars; 3.5mm letters in city name; 1.5mm state name; 3mm between city and state name; city name approx. 17mm long; state name approx. 9mm long (including punctuation).

The L-9 is interesting. Could it be a 205 without the bottom bar? A little black iSuggests that the stampto the left would have been a 205.nk in the lower left margin

Thanks for the additional comment, but I'm not certain that the Type 205 precancel ever used a comma after the city name (which is shown at the beginning of the above posted stamp because it being off-centered), so I discounted that precancel type at the outset.
