Going through my stamps from Ceylon and checking watermarks I notice that some are listed in the 2010 Scott book but not displayed at the beginning of the country. For instance, there are pictures of four watermarks but on one of my stamps, Scott 266 it says it has watermark 4 but only 1a, 1b, 6 and 290 are pictured. I even took a chance and looked at Sri Lanka to see if maybe they're shown there since the countries name was changed in 1972. If anyone has a link where I can see the other wartermarks for Ceylon I'd appreciate it.

Thanks
Chris

Watermark 4 (and watermark 1,2,3) for British colonies are the watermarks for British Colonial Stamps. Many British colonies share these watermarks, so they are lumped together (to avoid duplication) in Scott, usually in the introduction section.

I have a pic of watermark 4 on my stamp blog.
You may have to move away from the computer a bit to see it well.

Note: I'm sure someone else has a better image.

Yes, that is the watermark I'm seeing. In fact I can see it plainly when I just lay it down on my black work table but it really comes out when I add the lighter fluid in my black tray.

Found them, I should have looked at the index, the colonies watermarks are shown in the front section of the book. Thank you for all the replies, much appreciated and as usual I learned something.
