How many hours per week do you "invest" in your stamp hobby? Time invested may include sorting, mounting, hinging, creating album pages, browsing auctions, reading philatelic material, etc. Essentially anything that has to do with stamps. Do you spend more time on one particular aspect of your hobby lately? Personally, I have spent the majority of my time sorting precancels the last month or so. The rest of my time it seems has been spent "window shopping" on ebay.

Spending most of my time sorting through all the mixed lots I've bought from ebay recently, and subsequent research on the net for stamps I cant identify. I spend far too much time at work reading back through old posts on this forum (as I'm a relative newcomer), I'm up to 06/08/10 at the moment :p |

I also consider time spent browsing online auctions each week as "time invested" into my hobby. In my case, that would account for 50% or more of my overall time. Are there others out there who do the same?

Well, I've been on vacation for the past 6 weeks. Amidst my paypal ordeal and now moving into a new apartment, I haven't had much time to deal with the new kiloware lots and others I won. I've got definte plans for later this week, though. |

After I voted, I realized I forgot to include at least 1 HOUR PER DAY on SCF |

Auction Browsing for me is maybe 25% of my "stamp time". I figure a couple of hours a week here, and the rest actively working my collection. I figure 1 to 2 hours a day sifting, sorting, and mounting my collection. |

To me it is one of those things which I probably don't want to know, kind of like Smoking. If I did add up my hours, I'd probably qualify as an addict. |

Way over 25 hours a week right now , and most of that between 10pm and 6am when the kids are asleep and I can focus. Sleep deprivation is gonna have to win at some point ... Probably about evenly split between computer (Ebay, PSS, and other stamp websites, and here), and actually "working" on the avalanche that used to be a dining room table until I decided to start sorting through everything I have accumulated over 21 years of living in the US. |

I spend about 50% of my time browsing auctions and reading threads on SCF mostly during the evening hours. My total time per week on the hobby is approximately 25 hours. I am able to spend this much time because I am retired. |

Quote: Is this the first step in a 12 step program? If it is, then I propose it's a step in the wrong direction! SCF can be just as addicting as online auction sites :) |

If this breaks out into an online intervention I hope my wife doesn't see it. She's offered to stick stamps on herself for attention and it didn't go well when I said please use the gluestick not the MNH. |
