Yup, I was playing with my perforation gauge and found out that my #398 is, in fact a 402 Carmine. So the hunt is on to find a used #398 nicely centered and lightly canceld one and the #400 to finish the set...*sigh* I'll post a pic of it a little bit later on if ya want.

Oh no!?! I'm usually disappointed when I find out my common stamps are actually less common and worth 350% more! Oh wait ... why are you disappointed again? |

Well, because I only just wanted to finish off that set and it was disappointing that I have to look for 2 instead of just the #400. The value is really besides the point. That was sort of a cocky reply as the Scott val. used is $1.00 for the #398 and $2.75 for the #402. So, I guess I just don't understand your response? |

Just being silly, not critical. Mostly because I can't think of a good reason to be unhappy about owning a stamp more valuable than originally believed. I'll make it up to you, though. PM your mailing address and I'll send you a 398. I have at least 50 of them!

I understand your confusion! I reread my post and it sounded critical! And the offer to send you a 398 was serious! And speaking of this set, here's a picture of a 397//400 I picked up this past weekend. Although the 400 is hinged (I try to collect only NH 20th century stamps), I couldn't pass this lot up. |

Here are mine. look closely at the perforations & you will see it...it's a perf 12 and the others is perf 10. lol I can't believe I didn't catch that sooner! I have had those 10+ years too! I really got to get some of these with better centering- lol These were from my original collection that I inherited. |

You will quickly get accustomed to seeing the difference in perf sizes on this era of US stamps. It's esp easy on this set and the 1922 set. |

I'm starting to spot these pretty easy now, like you said it's starting to get second nature. I just recently started to messing around with the more advanced stuff like design measurements and extreme perforation variants. Loads of fun! Thank you again! |

Excellent! The 400 & 401 are definitely fillers, but better than nothing. Enjoy! |
