Ok, I've really lost it. Literally. I can't find my perforation gauge! Again.
I don't live near a stamp store, and can't get to one anytime soon. My question to all of you is... is there a free downloadable perforation gauge available online that I could printout that will temporarily hold me over until I can get a real one?

I downloaded and printed the perf gauge and found that it is not usable. Neither the downloaded size, nor resizing it, would give the correct gauge for a verified 12.0 stamp from my collection. I couldn't bring the file up in any of my other programs to try to "curser drag re-size" it either, so I've erased it from my PC. Two of my security programs warned me not to download it, however I did not find any viruses or other malware in it.

Unfortunately I found the same thing, blackjag. Thanks anyway buckeye, but it doesn't seem very accurate. Nitrolures has sent me a great digital gauge to use with scans, but I'm still on the hunt for a quicky analogue solution.
And as for the rest of you clowns...don't you have jobs or families to go to? Geeez!

Hey I am at work

Really though, I find the fastest, easiest and most accurate way to measure the perforations is by using a millimeter ruler and doing the math:

For Online Stamp Tong:
1) download any blank, empty or void, all optional; j-peg, pbf file, photo, or other materials.
2) Print (this is also optional)
3) A)You may skip steps 1 & 2 and go straight to step 3 by taking a sheet of printer paper from a printer or package of specially marked printer paper or just tear a page out of a note book.
B)Then fold the paper over every 1/4 inch, or 5mm or whatever form of measurement you may use, fold until all the paper in one long 8 to 9 inch fold or 5cm to 6cm or whatever form of measurement you used.
C) Take the two ends of the paper together to form the tong. Note 1: Important to fold evenly.
Note 2: Used step 1 & 2 or note paper for a more aesthetic tong.

4) To add further tension to the tong insert a paper clip bent straight, but don't waste your time!
5) Hold the tongs in your right hand, if left handed use the left hand, if you are ambidextrous use both, if you can.
6) Depress tong around the stamp by pressing firmly on the last inch of the open end of the tong, gently pull & place desired stamp in an appropriate location where ever the hell that is.
Note A: If the stamp can't be moved in this manner, try sliding one open end or the other letting the stamp get snagged in the end.
Note B: If Note A fails it is clearly operator error!
Note C: If not operator error, make sure the stamp is not adhered to the paper, then it is still operator error by not knowing this first.
8) If you still have an issue by this point, go to the $ store and spend a buck. Note: Buck = $1.

James, I have an extra I could send you if you still need it.

Also, have you ever thought about attaching a string to it and tying it around the desk leg?
I did this with my son's scissors because he was always losing them.
I also do this with magnifying glasses at stamp shows
so they don't walk off with someone by mistake.

Just a thought.

Does a perf gauage have a hole in it?
spanishmoss, are you from Mississippi? I used to live in northern (no - upper!) Mississippi. We had little spanish moss but LOTS of kudzu.
