Just received this CSA7 Jeff Davis purchased on ebay and am surprised at how thin the paper is. It's almost like tissue paper or a thin vellum.
Can't find any info on the net, and am thinking of emailing Dr Kimbrough at jlkstamps (he's certainly an expert) but wondered if anyone here has seen this before?

Here it is scanned on a piece of lined paper to show you how translucent it is.

Well. Heard back from Dr Kimbrough at csastamps...

The stamp is a CSA #7 Richmond Print and is genuine. There are a number of random plate flaws in the stamp that identify it as a Richmond Print. This is an early printing on the London De La Rue Paper that was supplied by De La Rue and Company from England when they shipped the printing plate. This paper was high quality. After the paper sent from England ran out, then further printings were done on the heavier local papers. De La Rue (thin) paper is listed in the Scott Catalog as a variety of the CSA #7 stamp.

So that answers that one. High quality English paper. Who knew?
