5 mythical creatures.
Anyone like to suggest what the 6th one could be?

These are great, thanks for posting Triggersmob!

Australia Post page link on the many Mythical Creatures products, including a 3D stamp pack (including 3D glasses), cheque books, gutter pairs as shown above and also for the $1.20 Dragon (the sixth figure; their could be so many for us myth buffs), window decals (new to me but neat), swap cards, also maxi-cards, souvenir (miniature) sheet, first day covers, stamp and medallion covers, and another first for me, a blank first day cover.

Inside picture from 3D stamp pack of a Griffin and a Dragon. Fantastic art work I think.

(Good Lord his avatar is Popeye like LaSwabbie!)
3D stamp pack 10.95 from Australia Post and USD $21.95 on ebay. And it will probably sell too.

This is a smart move by AusPost because of the renewed interest in mythical things lately, after the Lord of the Rings movies. Plus the precursor to the LOTR is The Hobbit, being made as a movie in New Zealand right now, and it has a dragon (Smaug) as the big bad guy. And, gee, he happens to be a red dragon also (different colours denote different abilities and breath weapons like ice or acid instead of fire).

Blank FDC (to make your own on a mythical envelope) $0.30 each.

OK, OK, I couldn't resist.

Here is the cover to the 3D stamp pack from the same ebay seller mentioned above, showing all the creatures pictured on the stamps.

And you know what, that's a Troll there and there are trolls in The Hobbit too. No unicorns or griffins or mermaids or fairies though. Good choices I think. That mermaid look kind of like an elf maiden too.

I just noticed the tentacle swishing about on the water below the Mermaid. Look out! Is that a subtle reference to a sea monster or perhaps to LOTR fans a reference to the creature in the lake outside of the doors of Moria? Am I reaching here? Do I need my meds? Guard, bring my meds! Hurry!
