Hi Everyone,
Today I am going through my stamps (no different from any other day really, LOL). And... I came across these four stamps.

I can see that the postmark shows what I will guess as Roman Numerals?

So I will also take a guess that the red stamp reads:
14, July, 1925?

But then looking at the green stamp, looks like a negative #1, so I guess I am wrong?

Anyway, though they are heavily postmarked, they are dear to me, so mysterious LOL.. Thank you for your help! Oh, I did do a search for "identify foreign postmarks" but nothing came up.

The roman numerals typically designate the month of the year and is typically shown as dd/mm/yyyy, so in your examples, the correct date is 14 July 1925; 1 June 1922; 8 February 1922; and 1 February 1911.

Just like on a date stamp you can buy from a stationery store, there is the hyphen typically added to the date dial so you can show the first of the month as a "1" or a "-1" both of which would be correct.

Hi wt1,
Thank you for the explanation, especially about the hyphen and in comparison to a date stamp. Very interesting!

Sue, you may wish to consider changing your
thread topic to "Belgian Railway Parcel Stamps" or similar,
so other students
can learn from your thread.

I collect them, and prefer on piece if I can get them.

500 still to sort.....
