Many folks on this site have mentioned the Mystic Heirloom album, so I thought I would look into it.

They have 3 package deals to choose from. 1 costs less than $40 and another is around $60, But I cannot find an explanation of what the difference is between the two.

Anybody know?

It's the quality of the binders. I don't have a set (yet) but I understand the differences are minimal and since most collectors don't seem to like either set of binders, I'd go with the cheaper version and put the savings toward upgrading to better quality loose leaf binders from a local source, should you so desire.

Here's a previous thread that gives further information and comments about some experiences with this product:

wt1 is right on. I just received the 3-volume set. After discussing extensively with the Mystic salesperson, it sounded that the heavier binder was probably not worth the extra money unless you open/close the binders very frequently. Since I don't,I opted for the "American Heirloom" version.

Ordinarily it would be a good idea, except that it is currently unavailable due to production problems. There is also a second volume that is said to be out by the end of the year that goes into the more modern issues. But at $99 for the two volume set, you'd probably have to double that price for the later set and while it would be worth it, the cost (and wait for it) may not be an option for some collectors.

Going back to the original Mystic Heirloom 3-Volume Stamp Album, be sure to order it under this stock number and you get a bonus of 200 used US stamps and some stamp hinges to get you started. Not a big deal in terms of the extras, but at the same cost you might just as well take advantage of the promotion, as it's still only $39:
