If it's a minor shading issue, apparently Scott doesn't recognize it in their catalog, so it is not likely to be considered anything significant. Could be a "freak" of some sort. In any event, it's always fun to collect these oddities.

Quite honestly, I think your second stamp has a slight color shift (or misregistration), too, as I have highlighted here:

Unfortunately, I don't think any of it will merit any premium value ... it's more of a conversation piece than anything else.

Me too!

Another thing: Stare at the letters "USA" for awhile. It appears they are different (thicker) on the second stamp than the first. Nothing to create a special Scott number over, but still different.

I'm not sure if this issue was distributed by multiple printers or not, as that could explain it a bit.

There are numerous minor differences between the two stamps. I know that one of the posts thought that there may be a color shift on the right stamp, but if anything, the left stamp looks "blurrier".

I only have one copy of this stamp and while it has the detail lines in the flower petals, they are very faint. It seems that your left hand stamp may be the over-inked freak.

Just checked my stockbook and found this easily visible color misregistration on the same stamp issue referred to above:
