I maybe sorry for asking this question, but after having recently posted in another thread a question about the various varieties of coil stamps for the above issue, I came upon this pair, which I believe are Scott 2913's. However, there is a distinct color misregistration on them as I have highlighted, including a smeared line across the center of the stamps:

As these are used stamps, I suppose the smeared line across the center could have been caused by a mail sorting machine, but the other highlights are definitely attributed to color misregistration.

I wonder if this is a common occurrence, as I don't seem to see it on any other Flag over Porch stamps that I have.

Very minor color misregistration. Quite common.

The horizontal line is not a color misregistration, but a printing freak -- similar to a wiping smear. Again, pretty common on the coil stamps; it's just that most people don't notice.

Damage by dispensing machine will result in a horizontal surface scrape that might also produce a horizontal line of disturbed color (usually more smudging is seen). Your stamp does not appear to be surface scrape. Note the perforation hole in the middle where the line runs through is completely undamaged.

Thanks for the information. I'll keep it noted as a minor color misregistration. I know it's not changing the value, but still an interesting conversation piece.

You would think that with today's advanced technologies such color misregistrations would be less common, but I have noticed them coming up on several recent issues. Again, nothing worth much of a premium in terms of value, it just seems as if it is poor quality control. But then again, maybe due to the millions or billions of stamps printed, these are of very minor consequence.

Personally, I would prefer USPS save some money and not worry too much about misregistration in its specifications to the printer. Besides, misregistrations and other EFOs makes things more interesting. One of the few instances where I prefer LACK of quality control!
