Quote: a box on a table behind the counter area; it had holes and on the side was printed, "Live Baby Chicks". I know they still mail bees to apiarists (beekeepers). That was one of the concerns during our mail lockout this past year. It came right at the start of bee season, and many apiarists were awaiting their new shipments for the year. |

Quote: I know they still mail bees to apiarists (beekeepers). Indeed. The USPS will still ship bees and chickens. I haven't kept either for a couple years but queen bees were shipped using a USPS small flat rate priority box with a nice sticker that says "Live Bees" on the outside. I can't recall what service the chickens we ordered were shipped using but they come in a regular cardboard box with air holes. In both cases we received phone calls from the post office at about 4:30 am to come to the loading dock and pick up our livestock. |

Well, a box is other than a postcard or envelope. I don't understand the address on this piece as it just gives the name and "City". Perhaps that means local delivery or something? I don't know. Storage of pieces like this is somewhat problematic as they aren't flat. |

Here we go. I knew I had a picture of the bee shipment somewhere. If you look closely in the plastic cages you can see that each has a queen and several attendants. |

Theater ticket Also, while researching the Pneumatic Tube mail system in the States, they once sent a Cat through the tube. |

Stallzer that's a very funny article. I liked the way the fact that a cat was used to test the system in the US then tempered by the fact it was legal in England to send not only animals but children through the mail. Priceless. |
