Had a great read thru some of the topics and came across a topic about the John O' Groats (Scotland) postmark. Someone knew somebody going there and offered to get the postmark for forum members. Just as a side topic... I have a cover with what was supposed to be (at the time) the longest and shortest postmarks in the world. See below. Any updates to that "record" since 1973? Photo would be appreciated if possible. Scotty

Someone went to a lot of trouble to create the cover. Very nice, and a big welcome to the forum.

EDIT: I noticed that the Griffins (or lions maybe?) are different on both stamps..

The one on the right, for Ae in Dumfriesshire, is a Scottish regional definitive, and so has the Lion rampant as its regional symbol. The one on the left, for Llanfair, is a Welsh regional definitive, with the Welsh dragon as its symbol.
