Hi Everyone
OOPS 1st post here is the pic

I saw this #596 in my new stash of stamps and freaked out! After running round the house a few times I took a closer look and now not sure what this is exactly. Looks like a coil, and has a Kansas City, Mo precancel. But the cancel is different than the 596 and of course if it's a coil it's not 596 either. I'm perplexed and a little bummed.Plus it's stuck to another 1 cent stamp underneath it. I'm unsure how to seperate them of even if I should.
HELP
Nick

Nick, welcome to SCF. The stamp shown is the rotary press coil Scott 597. The precancel is a Bureau type 63

Look at the bright side, it will cost a lot less to insure than a SC596.

Or soak them apart. The stamps should easily come apart a few minutes after being soaked in water.

Precancels are so much fun... I won a lot of them on Listia, I have a good buddy there who hooked me up, but I don't have any precancels from Kansas City, Mo, where I grew up! So, that precancel stamp is pretty cool to me!
