My 'this day in history' desk calendar reminded me that on Oct. 26, 1881 the legendary shootout took place between the Earp brothers and the Clanton-McLaury gang.

Seemed to me like a good time to share these...Bill

It may be that the last cover was sent to same man whose ad ran in the Tombstone newspaper from Aug 29,1885

CHILDREN-BIOGRAPHY: William Hettich, TOMBSTONE; reprint from the Tombstone Prospector, 1902. "F.B. Austin is one of Tombstone's earlier pioneers. . . He had much experience as a placer miner, and invented a gold washer that has many points of interest. . . .He founded the Papago store of those days and made, as the saying goes, plenty of money; made it, too, by upright and fair methods, for in this community the name of F.B. Austin stands for honorable dealing. At one time Mr. Austin established a business in Tempe, where he also served in an official capacity, but later he returned to the city whose industrial bastions he had aided in building, and established a mercantile business, the Pioneer Store."
