I see these listed on auction sites once in a blue moon and wonder if they are A: legit and B: if they are maybe the tax stamp imposed on the colonists by England? Any insight?
Anyway here is a pic of what I'm talking about. They usually they have a number below the design though.

Looks like a revenue stamp from the Stamp Act of 1765

Don't know if that one you've shown is legit, but if it is, it's a nice piece of American history.

Oh yeah! That's really cool james. Thank you. I guess that clears that up. I'm betting that the ones up for sale on ebay and the like are probably reproductions as I doubt there are very many in private hands or that many period. OK Thank you. Those ones up there are listed as proofs. That's cool! So should this go in the Back-of-book section then? lol

The one I posted is off of an old auction listing and is not mine. I don't have one.
