Stamp design for 'Music' (Which had already been adapted from previous works) becomes poster design for Olympics by turning the basic image through 90 degrees and changing a few colours...

A set of poster designs have just been chosen and announced for the 2012 London Olympics. The posters are all by contemporary artists and the designed are controversial to say the least. One of the artists to be successful is Bridget Riley. See HERE

Now take a look at THIS

The old joke about is it the right way round? springs to mind. I Think the artist (along with most of the other successful entrants for that matter) must be killing herself with laughter at all those gullible committee members.

Unbelievable!

Ralph.

Perhaps the real joke is played on the gullible buyers of a 950 pound print of multi-coloured lines of paint - total cost to artist??? $10 pounds?.

Yes, the stamp shown in the link above is one of many crap designs that passed through the laughable Stamp Advisory Committee for Royal Mail's Millenium Series'.
Slated by most, laughed at by many and scratched heads by just about everyone.

After the ultra-ridiculous and deathly dull Olympic Logo, nothing surprises me.

A similar public reaction to my loved Downey Heads!

Unfortunately I don't think these will stand the test of time, $.01 club for life IMHO!

Does anyone else think the 2012 in Olympic slogan looks like a swastika?

I read in some news mag that Iran was formally protesting the games because of the "subliminal zion message" I find that kind of funny. I'm pretty it's sure just a crappy design.

Hmmm---two thoughts. The 950 pound print is sold out. Somebody is buying. The "artist" must be laughing all the way to the bank.

Second, The shapes at the bottom of the Olympic poster do spell out zion. It took me quite a while to realize that the shapes actually are 2012. (Although I don't get why the 1 has a square over it AND the 2012 is reading 2102 along the bottom.)
