I just wanted to bring to SCF members attention that in searching out news related to the "US Postal Service" I simply entered that phrase into a Google search and it came up with an odd advertisement for "United States Postal Services" (with an "s") as an ad for changing an address:

After researching the company noted under that title (which in my opinion is a scam), I found several web site alerts to this company and people who were legitimately looking for a USPS Change of Address form and unknowingly filling out the form on this web site at a high cost.

This prompted me to check what a typical person unfamiliar with the USPS might encounter if they Google-searched "USPS Change of Address". As shown below, this scam web site actually comes up ahead of the legitimate USPS web sites and I'm sure will easily result in confusion by the general public:

Just an alert to watch out for this should anyone be intending to file an on-line change of address form with the US Postal Service.

I guess I have been on this planet long enough to know better,
it still amazes me the depth of deception on the internet.
Just about every software site has some ruse running.

I recently wanted a copy of the german "Click Tray Calender"
which I know is some great software.
However we now have mirror sites where you click on
download, and if you are not sharp the "download now" button
has you downloading something completely different
possibly a registry cleaner or something else that is "FREE"
for about 30 days before you have to pay for it.
Umpteen "toolbars" downloaded.

I now, very rarely venture outside SCF, Wiki etc.

I totally got a stupid registry cleaner somewhere along the line and boy is it annoying.

I just moved from NYC to West MI and the amount of scams on the net from moving co.s, "apartments", and mail sites was dishearting and bothersome-- especially when you consider the sophistication of some of these scams.

I've seen various versions of those on and off. I seldom do much more than read the newspaper, stamp coummunity, auctions and my email. I hate those things. However, I do find that the 419 scam artists (do you realize how many of my relatives have died in central africa recently?!) quite creative as well. To remedy this, I've actually invented characters and false emails just to waste their time. It's called scam baiting! There's a website for it as well..

Some of the anti-scammer pepole have done quite elaborate things to torture the scammers.

Thanks for the heads up. We all have to look out for each other in this age of internet scams. The saddest thing I find is that these evil people often target and prey upon the very weakest in our society - our senior citizens.
