An interesting read as to the future of Duck Stamps:

H.R. 3117, also known as the Permanent Electronic Duck Stamp Act of 2011, would give the U.S. Secretary of the Interior permanent authority to authorize states to issue electronic duck stamps. If passed, you could have something like "Federal Duck Stamp" printed on the back of your computer-generated hunting license.

If you're a stamp collector, don't worry. If passed as written, H.R. 3117 requires that a physical duck stamp be sent to each person who purchases an electronic federal duck stamp. According to Ducks Unlimited, funds generated through the sale of federal duck stamps have been used to purchase, buy easements or lease more than 6 million acres of waterfowl habitat in the United States during the past 77 years.

They will Never get rid of the Duck Stamp program. When you compare the number of Duck hunting licences issued, to the number of Duck Stamps, the number of stamps sold is over 30% more than the licences. This translates to millions of dollars for Wetlands Conservation. At it's peak in the late 70's to early 80's it was almost 2:1 or (for those who hate math) about 50% more.

Always liked them, never hunted, but somewhere in the 90's I stopped buying them. I found that just keeping up with all the new Priority and Express mail stamps seemed to fill the void. Ha

I still think they are nice looking however. Here is the cover label from the this years issue... (yes, another collectible. Will it never end?)
