Do you keep stamps in albums ? Face the facts damage will occur to the sensitive little guys...you open to a page and ..hey I never noticed that crease..or why is there a hinge remnant in that space and no stamp ? Just hope its the inexpensive ones and not Murphys law where its the good one !!

Hi Guys will reply to both in one post...i use albums.. I do have some stamps in stockbooks of plastic stockcards..but they do flip flop a lot just in the act of taking them down from a shelf..so I take the tongs and re align them..but I was talking about my Scott International albums..hinged stamps are very movable sometimes they will catch another stamp or something and theres a crash...

Phil and others:

My King George VI Album from Stanley Gibbons is fastbound and printed on both sides. There is glassine interleaving between the pages so the stamps don't catch one and other. The 1938/first printings of the stamps go in that album. I only collect used, so they are all hinged into place. The rest of the KGVI collection is housed in six 1" tree0-ringed binders with (mostly) Vario stock pages, with little notes below each stamp identifying the variety (perforation, printing, error, etc.) I produce those on my computer. Some pages are written up, on White Ace British Empire pages (using my computer) with the appropriate interleaving as required.

My Costa Rica collection is housed in 11 suede-like CWS binders on 100 lbs. paper. The album is specialised, preprinted and is written in Spanish & English. The album is printed on one side and I have glassine interleaving throughout. The album is printed in San José, as the printer is a member of the Society of Costa Rica Collectors. The album is updated each year. The preprinted album takes up 8.5 of the 11 albums. The rest of the albums have covers, either written up on pages (one side) with glassine interleaving, or in Vario stock pages.

My U.S. Air Mail Collection is housed on White Ace album leaves, printed one side with glassine interleaving throughout. The Air Postal History of Texas is mostly in Vario stock pages.

My specialised Americana Series collection is on home made album leaves, printed one side with glassine interleaving throughout, and in vario stock pages. I have three albums of FDC's on the Americana Series in Vario stock pages.

Lastly, my Netherlands Indies/Indonesia collection is mounted on Stiener album pages, I printed one side on a page, with glassine interleaving throughout.

My Cardiology collection is in a stockbook as it is still in the development stage, along with my mourning stamps and covers.

I am purchasing a small bookshelf to keep all my refernce material in and the stamps in the big wall unit.

It's all within easy reach!

David
