although Im not sure exactly where on ebay I saw it,
the pictures shown of the stamp very clearly show the
glue on the back of the MNH stamps. The detail of the
actual face of the stamp left a lot to be desired from a clarity
point of view but the glue image was outstanding.
anyone have any ideas about the better method for showing the back of the stamp?

You could try a clear piece of a thick plastic to hold one edge of the stamp up while you scan it. You might have to shine a light under in from a different angle also. Just a guess.

I tilted a few stamps to scan them with a reflective surface to show up teh reflections, if that is what you are after?

Go find that ebay listing again and give us a link so we can see what you are wanting more clearly perhaps.

I agree with the tilt method.
I works a treat to show things normal scanning doesn't pick up.

eg. This date in the phosphor band.

I used the tilt-method when I had to show detail on a Machin

You need to set your camera on Macro sometimes to do this.
