Personally, I do not examine my stamps to that degree. On the other hand, one of my favorite threads here is "Hidden Dates on Canadian Stamps." Lots of great details and fun with modern Canada.

But here, in my opinion, is the bottom line.... Every modern stamp has oddities in the printing -- color shifts, blurs, smudges, you name it. And it seems very unlikely to me that any of them will ever get a footnote in a catalog. I know exceptions can be found in Unitrade, but they seem few and far between.

So, I think most folks who are into the details are doing it for the pure joy of doing it -- not in the hope of a catalog listing.

Of course, for me this means that I can love the $10 Blue Whale, but I'll never be famous for finding one with an extra fin
