Greetings,

I am Jim S., a long-time member of the community coin forum.

I have just begun to dig through the tens (if not an hundred) of thousands of stamps my father left me.

He began collecting around 1925, carrying on the philately tradition of my grandfather.

I am not a stamp collector and I'm here to ask for a lot of help....lots of it; because I plan to try and sell the collection.

I say that unabashedly because:

I'm a coin collector
There are too many stamps
They need to be cared for better than I can.

Regards and enjoy the holidays you celebrate.

Jim

p.s. Holy mackerel. After reading just two threads I am fighting being overwhelmed realizing that varieties and errors abound in the stamp world.

I promise to get a catalog. Is Scott's the recommendation?

Welcome Jim

Best of luck in your quest. But you never know you may get hooked like many before you.

Jim you could not have found a better place to settle down and get your questions answered and yes sometimes set your head to spinning, but we will all be here to screw it back on and help you make sense of what you have. My money is down on Jim getting addicted (I'll put down 10 at 5:1 odds) - WELCOME Jim and let's have some fun.

I'm a couple/three weeks into stamp research when I have time and, sure enough, I'm getting a small bug for it...waiting on a Scott's and UV lamp...and always having the discussion between my ears, "What promises the wife she wont become a stamp widow?"

:D
