Just checking in here. I have been lurking here for a while as I have been struck with the collecting bug again. I have collected before but I was drawn to family duties, work etc in the mid 80's so that is where collecting stopped. Even though I have not collected for many years it has been interesting to see the changes in postage. Mainly the use of self adhesive instead of the lick and of course I do miss the quality engraving of old stamps.

Anyway I'm glad to be here.

Welcome to the group.

Were you by chance in the Air Force? I'm retired AF and was statioed at Hill AFB for a couple years. Enjoyed it there. Did a 1/2 marathon in your area once. Beautiful country.

Be sure to let us know your collecting interests. Hopefully you'll get those 50 posts in soon so you can start trading, etc.

Kind Regards,

Dave N.

Thanks for the welcome. My interests are mainly US but I am very fond of the older Canadian stamps as well. I really like the older stamps that were engraved. To me they are a small work of art. I find that I can look at them with a magnifier for quite some time and never get tired of the view.
Oldtriguy1960 - my name might imply Air Force but I am an Army guy. The name jetjock is because in years past I did a lot of RC airplane flying and got involve with RC jet / turbine etc. Glad you had a good experience in our area. You are welcome back anytime.

Welcome to a great group jetjock. You'll find no cure for the stamp bug here.
I too find myself fascinated by the quality and variety of older engraved issues. And I've just returned to collecting after many years, haven't decided exactly which direction yet...as long as I enjoy it.
