Boy, that honey hides right out in the open. That is a pretty common design, and I don't look twice at them when going Italian stamps.
The catalog prices for Italian and Italian area stamps have jumped quite a bit in the past 10 years. Some things remain unchanged, of course, but there are more than a few items that have jumped 100%+ in a couple of years. The strange part (to me) is that many of these items really aren't that hard to find.
If you are working with Italian stamps, it is worth your while to thumb through the most recent catalog and notice which 20th Century stamps are now in the $100+ range. Just two days ago, I finally went through an Italian collection I purchased just a few years ago from a dealer and pulled out a used Scott #518(18May1949) commemorating the Centenary of the Roman Republic. The 2011 catalog price is $125 (up from $57.50 in the 2009 catalog).
